Nicki's Abortion
Nicki's Abortion was originally spawned by reading a short story, "Pregnancy", by Anna Romer. After reading it, the similarities between it and "Hills Like White Elephants", by Ernest Hemingway seemed clear and an amalgamation of both was underway.

After countless re-writes production began in early 2003 in and around Toluca Lake California. In an effort to keep the budget down the Brooks' residence was used for the couple's apartment as well as their Dodge Durango for their vehicle. Also due to financial concerns the vehicle was actually driven during production, a trailer was not used. All the camera mounts on the vehicle were made out of parts purchased from the local hardware store.
